Class Descriptions

TWINKLE TOES
Preschool 3–4 Year Olds (45 minute classes in tap, ballet and tumbling)
This fun and interactive class is for children 3-4. These dancers learn the basic steps and positions of tap, ballet and tumbling. This class enhances their memory, listening and sequencing skills. Through the enjoyment of this class, they improve their balance and coordination as they express themselves physically.

TWINKLES STARS
Kindergarten Classes (45 minute classes in tap, ballet and jazz)
Our dancers are building self-esteem as their knowledge of dance increases. Their tap sounds will become more distinct and rhythmic. Their ballet work includes positions, stretching and balance. An introduction to jazz really rounds out the whole experience as they move to the music they listen to.

SHINING STARS
1st–2nd grade (1 hour classes in Tap and Jazz)
Classes are offered in combination of tap and jazz. Dancers will expand their tap skills and put together their double & triple sounds into combinations of steps. Basic jazz technique will include isolations, across the floor movements and fun jazz funk combinations.

SHOOTING STARS
3rd–4th grade (1 hour classes in Tap and Jazz)
In class dancers will work on rhythmic exercises and tap skills as they build combinations that are fun to do and great to hear. Jazz will start with exercises to work on stretch, strength and technique.  The dancers will also learn fun, high energy routines in both tap and jazz.

SHOW STARS
5th–7th grade (1 hour classes in Tap and Jazz)
In class dancers will begin more advanced technique concepts such as proper body alignment, balance and positions. They will begin faster and more intricate tap sounds. Jazz will bring up the pace. The high-energy style will incorporate turns, footwork and body isolations.

BALLET STARS
1st–4th grade Ballet (45 minute class)
This class offers a more intense study in ballet. Students will work on technique at the barre and center floor. They will also work on leaps and turns across floor. The class finishes with dance choreography.

HIP HOP STARS
Hip Hop (45 minute class)
MTV and street style jazz taught in a laid back setting. Learn the latest styles and moves as you get your swagger on! The only thing you will need is energy.

LIGHTNING
Boys Hip Hop (45 minute class)
This class is for boys only. Come and learn the latest moves in hip hop. Cool and innovative choreography for the guys in hop hop will be taught. This is the fastest growing program at DAC.

Dance Attire/ Dress Code
Preschool, Kindergarten & 1st Grade and Older Tap and Jazz Classes:
Options include leotards, tights, jazz pants, dance shorts or jazz tank tops. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun for all classes.

Ballet Classes:
Solid colored leotard and pink or black tights. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun for all classes.

Hip Hop Classes:
Options include Gym shorts, dance shorts, sweat pants, tank tops, t shirts. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail.

Required Shoes
Please write your dancer's name on all shoes and dance bags!

Preschool & Kindergarten Classes:
Tan tap shoes, pink ballet shoes.

1st–2nd grade, 3rd–4th grade, & 5th–7th grade tap & Jazz Classes:
Tan tap shoes and foot thongs.

Hip-Hop Classes:
Hip Hop Sneaker (contact the studio for details).

Ballet:
Pink ballet shoes.

Class Fees
Yearly tuition is based on 32 lessons for the 2012-2013 dance season. Yearly tuition is payable in 9 monthly payments due on the first lesson of the month or can be paid in full for the year.

Preschool, Kindergarten, Ballet and Hip Hop classes: $39/month

1st–2nd grade, 3rd–4th grade and 5th–7th grade classes: $44/month.

Discounts
Yearly Tuition Paid in Full by September 30, 2012 (up to $100) will receive 5% discount (Recreational Dancers only)

Yearly Tuition Paid in Full by August 10, 2012 will receive at 5% discount (Performing Team Dancers only)

Family of 3 or more dancers – 10% off the total up to $100 (only 1 discount per family is available)

Late Fees/Returned Check Fee
Tuition paid one month late or more will be subject to a $10 late fee.
Returned Check fee is $25.

Recital

Recital Fee
Our recitals are a magical experience for your dancer, family and friends. $15 per dancer recital fee helps to defray the cost of the recital expenses. It also helps keep the costs of tickets lower for you and your guests. This fee is due with your first costume payment.

Costume Fee
During the fall we will order recital costumes for your class. We select age appropriate costumes to go with the style of the dance/s performed.

Preschool, Hip hop and Ballet Classes: 1 costume ($69)

Kindergarten Classes, 1st–2nd grade, 3rd–4th grade and 5th-7th grade classes: 2 costumes - $69 per costume (payable in 2 installments)

Costume fees are not refundable once an order has been placed.
